I wrote Disney a letter about the treatment I received as a veteran.
The Disheartening Reality of Veteran Treatment
My name is Eddy Sanchez, and I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the treatment of veterans within your organization. As someone who has served my country, it is disheartening to feel that the values Disney claims to uphold do not extend to those who have served.
The Silence After Initial Interest
I have always admired Disney’s commitment to supporting veterans, but my recent experiences tell a different story. I connected with a recruiter who initially seemed eager to assist me, but after a series of emails, I found myself left in the dark. Despite my efforts to engage and seek guidance, her responses dwindled to silence, and I felt as though my concerns were dismissed.
Seeking Professional Recognition
Furthermore, when I reached out to the veterans spokesperson she referred me to, I was informed that the opportunities available were limited to basic positions, akin to those offered to high school students. As a graduate student seeking a career as an associate producer, this was incredibly disheartening. I expressed my gratitude to the recruiter for her initial interest, but after sharing my situation, I was met with a lack of response.
Limited Opportunities for Veterans
It is disappointing to witness a company that proudly boasts about its support for veterans while seemingly offering little more than entry-level jobs. I am not asking for special treatment; I simply wish to be recognized as a professional with skills and aspirations. The disparity between your messaging and the reality I encountered is troubling.
A Call for Change
I hope you take this feedback seriously and consider how you can improve the experience for veterans seeking meaningful employment. Thank you for listening.
