Today

Today by Eddy Sanchez

Today dawned, the first breath I can recall.

A fragment of my soul was lost, yet now it's unchained from pain, or so I claim.

When you left, grief wrapped its tendrils tightly, but today, at last, I see a shining light.

On this day of my birth, a vow I now renew, to become the man of whom you’d proudly view.

Yet, I know I’ll never fulfill your cherished dreams, bound by my own shadows, torn at the seams.

Today, I break free, yet remain forever tied, indebted to your love, a bittersweet guide.

As I bid you farewell, my heart heavy and worn, I whisper these parting words: I love you, Mom, reborn.
