Turn your Novel into the next Blockbuster Film!

My topic today is about converting your novel into a screenplay.! #story #novel #screenplay #advice

Is your book the next “Twilight” or the next “Harry Potter” series? If you feel your book has commercial potential, readmy tips for making it happen!

Before you think about the screenplay, make an outline of your novel. This will be helpful for whoever writes your screenplay but we’ll get back to it.

Let's start thinking about your screenplay.

  • You have two options. The first step is to write it yourself. Keep in mind that this is not an easy task.

  • Your second option is to pay someone else to do it for you but they will probably not be as passionate about the material as you are. Not to mention it will be costly.

You're better off doing it yourself. I’ll put a link with more details below.

  • Create an outline for your novel - This information will be used later to help you create an outline for your script.

Learning about screenplays

  • You need to first learn how to write a screenplay which is a difficult task.

  1. Read screenwriting books - I recommend the “Save the Cat” series by Blake Snyder or “Story” by Robert McKee. There are many screenwriting books out there.

  2. Read several screenplays to get an idea of what they should look like. Focus on screenplays of the same genre as your novel.

  • Make sure you read recent screenplays from the last 1-5 years. Screenplays have evolved over time.

Once you feel confident, move on to the next phase.

3. Now you will create an outline for your screenplay. You can take pieces from your novel's outline.

  • Keep in mind, your novel is very long, so you'll have to remove scenes that aren't necessary.

  • Something to think about. If your page count is over 120 pages, there's something wrong….
