Hi Everyone,

Tell your story! No two writers will tell the same story.

Writing exercise: read a screenplay (not an Avengers film)😅. Once you read it, try to tell the same story in your own words and see what happens. It’s like passing a message to the person next to you. Write your version of the story not a summary.

Purpose of Exercise: As long as you're not just copying, the message will change, and you'll tell a different story. Below is a link to more exercises from the Industrial Scripts website. They have their own exercises.

  • It can be a short script. This is just to get your creative juices flowing😅👌.

  • Leave a comment and let me know if you have an exercise to get you going creatively.

  • Share with a fellow creative.

Below is a helpful link where you can find more exercises.

Another screenplay by E.S. You’re probably wondering, who the hell is E.S.? Allow me to introduce myself my name is Eddy Sanchez. I am an up and coming screenwriter, well at least I’m trying to be. The one thing I know for sure is that no one is looking for you or in this case me. You have to let yourself be known. The world is full of great people waiting to be discovered, at least that’s how I see it. I recently started writing my 8th screenplay. I’m familiar with the format but I still struggle with writing content. I love the feeling I get when characters come to life, It’s surreal. I‘m not sure how other screenwriters do it? I wonder if they have doubts about themselves like I do? or do they just say I’m going to sit here until I have a story. I recently started getting into the habit of going to Starbucks, getting a coffee and just start writing whatever comes to mind. This may not be the best technique but it seems to be working for now.

I would like to reach out to other screenwriters and ask them these questions. What made you decide to become a screenwriter? Do you ever question your ability to write? I’ll start with these two questions for now. Thanks for listening. Please leave a comment.
